Okonkwo, on loan from Arsenal, secures 14th clean sheet

Posted : 30 March 2024

On matchday 40 of the EFL League Two, Arthur Okonkwo, the goalkeeper on loan from Arsenal, achieved yet another clean sheet for his club Wrexham, securing a 2-0 victory over Mansfield Town at the STōK Cae Ras on Friday.

Paul Mullin opened the scoring for Wrexham in the 32nd minute with a well-placed shot at the near post after capitalizing on a defensive error from Mansfield.

Later in the game, Mullin extended Wrexham's lead by slotting home a penalty in the 68th minute, adding to his impressive goal tally for the season.

Okonkwo maintained his position between the posts for the entire duration of the match and played a crucial role in preserving Wrexham's clean sheet.

In the 48th minute, Okonkwo made a remarkable save to deny James Gale's close-range effort, showcasing his agility and reflexes.

Shortly after, Okonkwo faced another challenge when Mansfield's Davis Keillor-Dunn attempted to score by dispossessing him, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul committed by Keillor-Dunn.

With this performance, Okonkwo has now kept clean sheets in 12 games in the EFL League Two this season, contributing significantly to Wrexham's promotion ambitions.

Eight of Okonkwo's clean sheets have been achieved at the STōK Cae Ras, Wrexham's home ground, while the remaining four were secured away from home.

Throughout the season, Okonkwo has been a consistent presence in Wrexham's lineup, missing only three games since the beginning of the campaign.
