Nigerian football legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha is poised to join a lineup of some of the world's most renowned footballers in the "Match of Legends" taking place in Colombia this weekend. The event is designed to showcase football legends from around the globe facing off against Colombian football heroes.
Okocha will represent the World Legends team alongside former Paris Saint-Germain teammates Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Barcelona great Rivaldo, former Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder, and ex-Manchester United ace Juan Veron. The Colombia Legends team will feature iconic figures such as René Higuita, Camilo Zúñiga, Leonel Álvarez, Aldo Leao Ramírez, and Choronta Restrepo.
Scheduled to be held at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellin on Saturday, December 16, the match is expected to be one of the most significant sporting events ever witnessed in Colombia.
Recognized as one of Africa's greatest playmakers, Okocha's influence and popularity persist long after his retirement. Earlier this year, he participated in 'The Beautiful Game' Charity match at Orlando City’s Exploria Stadium, impressing Ronaldinho and thousands of fans.
Throughout his successful playing career, Okocha played for clubs such as Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahce, PSG, Bolton Wanderers, and Hull City. He was also a prominent figure in the Nigerian national team for over 15 years, securing victories in the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
