Official: Slavia Prague sign Nigerian goal scorer

Posted : 22 June 2023
In an official announcement on their website, Slavia Prague has revealed their latest signing, Nigerian striker Muhamed Tijani, as part of their squad.

The 22-year-old player, who impressed with his remarkable performance of eleven goals for Baník Ostrava this season, has committed himself to Slavia Prague by signing a contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2028.

Tijani's football journey began at the Nigerian club 36 Lion, which has seen the development of other notable talents like Peter Olayinka, Yira Sor, and Moses Usor.

After his time at 36 Lion, Tijani joined Baník Ostrava in September 2018.

During the summer of 2019, he was loaned to the second-division club Třinec, gaining valuable experience in a different environment.

His debut in a top-tier competition came on June 3, 2020, when he played for Karvina against Slovácko.

Seizing the opportunity at Baník, Tijani participated in eleven matches during the 2020/21 season and scored his first league goal against Pardubice in September 2020, marking a significant milestone in his career.

The subsequent summer saw Tijani embark on another loan move, this time to the second-division team Táborsk.

It was there that he truly thrived, impressively registering nine goals and two assists in 28 games.

Following his loan spell, he returned to Baník for pre-season training.

Throughout the current year, Tijani has continued to make a name for himself, appearing in 32 matches and finding the back of the net eleven times.

Notably, eight of his goals were crucially scored during the final phase of the season, as Baník fought to avoid relegation playoffs, further demonstrating his impact and importance to the team.

Tijani has also proudly represented Nigeria in the country's youth national team selections.

Alongside Igoh Ogbue, he had the opportunity to showcase his talent on the international stage when they both participated in the 2019 Under-20 World Cup, highlighting his potential as a rising star in Nigerian football.
