Official: Rangers re-sign Balogun

Posted : 14 July 2023
Nigerian football star Leon Balogun has made his return to the Scottish football powerhouse, Glasgow Rangers, marking an exciting development for both the player and the club.

After his contract expired with English side Queens Park Rangers on June 30, Balogun joined Rangers on a free transfer, showcasing the team's shrewdness in securing his services without incurring any transfer fee.

The towering defender has officially signed a one-year deal with the Light Blues, pending international clearance, as announced on the club's official website.

The Rangers' statement expressed their delight at welcoming Balogun back to the team, emphasizing the valuable experience he brings to the squad.

Manager Michael Beale had previously emphasized his desire to add seasoned players to the team, and Balogun perfectly fits that criterion.

Not only will Balogun contribute on the field as a central defender, but his leadership qualities will also have a positive impact in the dressing room.

Balogun's previous stint with Rangers from 2020 to 2022 was highly successful, leaving a lasting impression on both fans and teammates.

During this period, he played a crucial role in helping Rangers secure their 55th Scottish Premiership title in 2021, a monumental achievement for the club.

Furthermore, Balogun's contributions extended beyond the domestic competition, as he played a part in Rangers' triumph in the Scottish Cup and their memorable journey to the Europa League final in 2022.

With an impressive international career, accumulating 46 caps for Nigeria, Balogun brings a wealth of experience and skill to the Rangers' defensive line.

His return to the club has generated considerable excitement among fans and is expected to bolster the team's ambitions for the upcoming season.

As Rangers aim for further success in both domestic and European competitions, Balogun's presence will undoubtedly contribute to their pursuit of silverware and their quest for continued glory in Scottish football.
