Former Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership-winning coach Tosan Blankson has officially signed with Rivers Angels, leaving Delta Queens to take over as the head coach of the Jewel of Rivers.
The experienced Nigerian coach has penned a two-year deal with the club, aiming to build on their impressive legacy.
Blankson made history with Delta Queens by securing the NWFL Premiership title with an unbeaten record over 15 matches, a feat he achieved during his two-season tenure with the club.
Despite this success, he was unable to defend the title last season due to challenges, including unpaid salaries that impacted the players’ performances and their exclusion from the Super Six.
Now, Blankson steps into the role previously held by Whyte Ogbonda, who led Rivers Angels to victory in the 2024 Federation Cup before moving to Bayelsa Queens. Blankson will oversee the technical staff of Rivers Angels, a club with a rich history, including seven NWFL Premiership titles and eight Federation Cup wins.
Blankson’s coaching journey includes stints with Warri Wolves and Delta Force, and he brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to his new role with Rivers Angels. The club and its supporters are hopeful that his leadership will continue to drive success and add to their storied achievements in Nigerian women’s football.
