A last-minute strike from Itimi Mercy condemned Nasarawa Amazons to their first playoff defeat in Yenagoa.
The game saw the Lafia Landladies, as Nasarawa Amazons are fondly called, gear into action as they dictated the pace of the game, thereby creating a series of chances, none of which found the back of the Bayelsa Queens' net.
With the first half ending goalless, Nasarawa Amazons continued from where the first half stopped, pressing their opponents without any cutting edge.
Substitute Itimi Mercy Omokwo got to the end of Mercey Anjor's weak shot to drive home the winner in the dying moments of the game.
Speaking after the game, Christopher Danjuma, who attributed his side's loss to a momentary loss of concentration, said his team would continue to fight till the very end as they still have three more games to make amends for today's loss.
"My assessment of the game is that we lost the game today, which could happen to any team. Just like every team, we all have lapses, and we will continue to work to ensure that we correct our lapses."
Finally, the easy-going coach says it is not yet over for his side.
"We got to the playoff to fight for the title, so with three games left, we are still in contention for the NWFL crown," he concluded.
Nasarawa Amazons will face Rivers Angels on MD3 after the Jewels of Rivers State defeated Edo Queens by two goals to one on MD2 at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
