The management of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) announced on Tuesday the rearrangement of Match Day 18 to accommodate the 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) fixtures.
Earlier, the NPFL management had agreed to proceed with the league schedules and fixtures despite the ongoing AFCON in Cote D'Ivoire.
To adjust for the AFCON matches that clashed with the timing of the opening fixtures of the 2024 AFCON, the NPFL has rescheduled the matches for Saturday and Sunday.
The Match Day 18 game initially scheduled for Saturday, January 13, has been moved to Sunday, and the matches on Sunday were shifted to Monday, aligning with the Super Eagles' first match against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
The NPFL management has, however, sent memos to the affected clubs concerning the date changes.
