Organizers of the prestigious pre-season football tournament for clubs in the nation's three-tier league divisions, the Optima Energy Gold Cup, have showered accolades on the newly promoted Nigeria Premier Football League club Beyond Limits FA.
The fast-rising Ikenne-based football academy made history in Nigerian domestic football by becoming the first academy side to earn promotion from the Nationwide League One (NLO) to the Nigeria National League (NNL) and then to the NPFL within the span of three seasons.
The General Coordinator of the Optima Energy Gold Cup, Tunde Shamsudeen, spoke to the tournament's media channel, saying, "Congratulations to Honourable Kunle Soname, whose vision and passion for football development in Nigeria cannot be measured, considering the substantial investment in Beyond Limits and Remo Stars.
"For every journey that starts with a strong foundation, success is often the end result. Within five years, Beyond Limits, who are the reigning champions of the Optima Energy Gold Cup, have become a household name and a brand that plays magnificent football.
"We are proud that the Optima Energy Gold Cup platform galvanized the team to become a competitive force in the NNL rather than just making up the numbers.
"Beyond Limits' growth from the NLO to the NPFL is not a mystery but the result of years of hard work, dedication, and placing the right people in the right positions.
"As football pundits often say, the game belongs to the players, but the responsibility is great for those who lead.
"Kudos to the coaching staff of the football academy, led by Golden Eaglets assistant coach Olumide Ajibolade.
"Olumide, whose football philosophy focuses on transforming raw talents into polished products, impressed every fan with his team's style of play. His players showed fearlessness in Enugu, challenged top teams throughout the regular season and playoffs, and clinched victory in a thrilling final and penalty shootout against former NPFL champions and FA Cup winners Nasarawa United.
"We hope this triumph will open up many opportunities for them, and we urge Beyond Limits not to rest on its laurels but to strive for even greater achievements."
