NPFL Match Day 18: Bayelsa Utd FC lost last minutes relegation battle

Bayelsa United at the last day of the Abridged 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) put up a spirited fight to earn a comfortable 2-0 win over Niger Tornadoes but the win was not enough for them to stay in the Premier league.

Bayelsa United before the last match needed something unusual to happen which could help the team survive the anticipated drop.

Bayelsa United occupied the eight position with 18 points and two points adrift Rangers Int'l that just needed a point to stay afloat.

The win against the Ikon Allah Boys in Yenagoa did no magic as Rangers International FC played a 1-1 draw against the Group B leaders Rivers Utd.

The result means Bayelsa United now has 21 points after 18 matches, while Rangers with 20 earned a point more to have 21 points.
