NPFL Match Day 16: 3SC coach rues wasted chances against Nasarawa Utd
Posted : 01 May 2023
The Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan Coach Gbenga Ogunbote rued missed chances as his side threw away goals only for Nasarawa Utd FC to rally for a lone goal win.
Nasarawa United FC, on the other hand, were fighting the relegation zone as the victory against 3SC consolidated their efforts at staying afloat in the Nigeria
Professional Football League (NPFL) at the New Jos Stadium.
Right full-back Nelson Abiam scored the only goal of the evening in the 22nd minute.
The much-needed win, however, temporarily lifted Nasarawa United to 8th position after playing a game more than Kwara United FC, who will be hosting Plateau
United at their makeshift Akure Township Stadium, Ondo State, on blockbuster match day.
The Solid Miners will play their last away match of the season against Kwara in Akure in a week's time before ending the season with a home game against Bendel Insurance a week later.
3SC coach, Ogunbote, said that the team's performances were not up to standard. "I think it was a bad one for us."
"We wasted some beautiful chances."
Forget about the position Nasarawa United presently occupy; they are a very good side.
Unfortunately, this is part of the game. "We will switch focus to another away game and see what we can get out of it," he said.
