A cagey North-central Nigeria Premier Football League match-day 15 derby clash between Nasarawa United versus hosts, Plateau United, ended 1-0 in favour of the home side at the New Jos Stadium, on Sunday evening.
However, the Coach of Nasarawa Utd FC, Abubakar Arikya contended that his team was just unlucky to have lost the match.
"Everyone can attest to the fact that we played better than our hosts today. We were just unlucky.
"It's painful that we lost.
"We now turn our focus to our next game at home against visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan where we hope to get the maximum points and continue with our fight against the drop zone,'' he said.
In a game largely dominated by the Solid Miners, it was Nenrot Silas' 13th-minute deflected goal that separated both sides at full-time.
The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, together with a high-powered Nasarawa State Government delegation.
They include Commissioners for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Yargwa; Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Yakubu Lawal; Environment, Hon. Kwanta Bohar; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development; immediate past Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Othman Adam, among others, were in Jos to lend moral and psychological support to the 2021 Aiteo Federation Cup runners-up.
Nasarawa United who are still pushing to move out of the red zone in Group 'A' will host Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan in their next game on Sunday, April 29.
Before then, the team will travel to Minna, Niger State, for a round of 64 National Federation Cup tie against Kebbi United on Wednesday, April 26.
The Coach of Plateau United FC, Fidelis Ilechukwu reacting to the game also praised the away team for putting up a spirited fight during the match.
"In all sincerity, Nasarawa United were the better side of today's meeting, and this is due to their position on the log.
"They came all out for this game, and were more determined than us, but we are lucky to get the win.
"We have three more games to go. We will take on Kwara in our next game away from home, and we hope to get something positive from that encounter.
"It's that game that will determine whether we can play in the Super Six competition,'' he said.
