The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is among the domestic championships represented in this month’s Africa Nations Cup AFCON 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire.
According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the NPFL is listed among the leagues of the 24 participating countries that will have players present in Cote d’Ivoire.
Enyimba International goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke, is the sole representative from the NPFL in the continent’s most prestigious football tournament.
The South African Premier League has the highest number of representatives with 12 players, followed by Egypt with 8. Other countries include Tanzania with 7, Tunisia and Mozambique with 6 each, Zambia with 5, and Algeria and Botswana producing 4 players each.
The competition is scheduled to kick off from January 13 until February 11, 2024.
However, the management of the NPFL has agreed that the league should continue despite the AFCON taking place in Cote D'Ivoire.
