Nottingham Forest and Arsenal agree to transfer Matt Turner; Turner undergoes medical examination
Posted : 07 August 2023
Nottingham Forest and Arsenal have reached an agreement for the transfer of goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Turner, an international player for the United States, has been serving as a backup to Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal.
However, with Mikel Arteta's pursuit of David Raya from Brentford, Turner has seized the opportunity to seek a new venture. A medical examination is scheduled for him later today.
Aged 29, Turner has solidified his position as the primary goalkeeper for the US national team. He notably featured in the recent Gold Cup campaign, contributing to their journey to the semi-final stage.
This move for Turner is believed to have no bearing on Forest's endeavor to secure the services of Dean Henderson from Manchester United. Steve Cooper, the manager, is eager to bring Henderson back to the City Ground.
In the 2022-23 season, Forest had both Henderson and Keylor Navas from Paris St-Germain on loan, but the loan spells have concluded, and the players have returned to their respective parent clubs.
Cooper has been actively reinforcing his squad during the summer transfer window, having already acquired six new permanent signings. Notable additions include Chris Wood, Will Brook, Harry Griffiths, Manni Norkett, Ola Aina, and Anthony Elanga, all of whom have joined the Reds.
