The Nigeria National League has disclaimed reports circulating regarding the recent announcement that the 2024/2025 season would kick off in October or November.
Emmanuel Attah, the Chief Executive Officer of the league body, stated that the NNL has not informed anyone that they plan to start the league in October.
"We cannot simply decide the kickoff date of the league from our office. We need to hold the Annual General Meeting of the body where we will review the last season and obtain approval for the new season," he said.
"We do not know where the October kickoff date came from. To the best of my knowledge, we have not set any date for the start of the NNL. When we do, we will inform everyone."
Attah, who formerly chaired the FCT Football Association, also denied any knowledge of unveiling a sponsor for the league, as speculated in the news.
"While it is true that many corporate bodies have shown interest in the league due to the highly successful season that just concluded, we have not reached the stage of unveiling any sponsors yet. When we finalize any deals, we will inform Nigerians."
