After allowing clubs to observe the yuletide holidays, the Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced that the 2024/2025 season will resume on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
The premier league in Nigeria, which kicked off on November 30, 2024, in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, went on a Christmas and New Year break after three weeks of action.
Abia Comets of Umuahia led the pack in Conference A with 7 points at the break, while debutants Kun-Khalifat Football Club of Owerri recorded three wins in three games played so far to stay on top of Conference B.
In Conference C, Wikki Tourists of Bauchi are in front with 7 points, while Basira Football Club of Lafia, Nasarawa State, leads in Conference D.
Chairman of the NNL, George Aluo, said that all was set for the resumption.
“We are going to maintain the best standards in the league and ensure we have a worthy champion at the end of the season,” Aluo said.
The NNL Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahman, is also delighted that the league has been hitch-free so far. He, however, urged the clubs to brace themselves for the resumption of the ongoing season.
