Odafe Emmanuel's late strike on Sunday earned Sporting Lagos the first win of the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
The first match in the Southern Conference ends with a solitary strike which proved to be the winning goal for Sporting Lagos in the game against FC One Rocket in the NNL Super 8.
The match, the first in the Southern Conference as the Nigeria National League Suepr 8 kicked off in Asaba, left nothing to the imagination as both sides went for the jugular from the blast of the referee's whistle, signalling the start of the epic encounter.
Despite the end-to-end actions, there was little or nothing to separate both sides even as the referee blew off the end of proceedings for the first 45 minutes of the game.
The second half ushered too little to be excited about as both teams seemed on the surface, to have settled for a 0-0 draw scoreline until the iceberg was broken by Odafe Emmanuel in the 87th minute, tapping home the decider after a goal mouth melee.
The goal came too late in the game to elicit a response from the opponent as FC One Rocket, tried as they could, but failed to get the ball into the net during the alloted time, plus injury time.
Sporting Lagos currently stands in the number one position on the log in the Southern Conference.
