The Nigeria National League (NNL) has restated the terms and conditions for promotion and demotion of clubs in the current season. NNL, in a statement, said this was with a view to reminding the clubs and preparing them as the ongoing season, which is shorter, gradually draws to a close.
The Northern and Southern Conferences of the league were further broken into four sub-groups: A1, A2, A3, and A4 for the Northern region.
"Same for the Southern Region: B1, B2, B3, and B4 to meet with the Football Calendar set by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The NNL rule book provides that 12 teams shall be relegated from the NNL at the end of the season, while it shall receive eight from the Nation-Wide League One (NLO).
"In the same vein, four shall be received from the Nigeria Premier Football League and the same number shall be promoted to the NPFL from the NNL."
The promotion schedule will see the best teams (those with the highest number of points and goals) in each of the eight sub-groups at the end of the season qualify for the NNL Super 8 Promotional Play-Offs at a venue to be considered by NNL.
In the Super 8 Play-Offs, the best four (the first four) with the highest number of points and goals will pick tickets for the four slots in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
"Conversely, the NNL shall admit in return the last four teams demoted from the NPFL to the NNL," it said.
NNL also spelled the relegation play-offs: Firstly, it is pertinent to note that the last (bottom) teams in each of the eight groups shall be automatically relegated to the 3rd tier domestic league, the Nationwide League One (NLO). Further, the second to the last (bottom) teams in the eight groups shall go for relegation play-offs to determine the four teams to complete the 12 teams to be relegated from NNL to NLO 1.
a"The NNL shall also provide a suitable venue for the relegation play-offs," the statement concluded.
