The Nigeria National League (NNL) team, Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, sacked its head coach, Azeez Audu, on Tuesday for failing to meet the club's target.
According to the club's management, Bashir Saleh has been appointed on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is found.
"Wikki Tourists FC wishes to inform the public and our esteemed supporters that, after careful consideration and review of our season, the club has decided to terminate the contract of our Technical Adviser (Head Coach), Mr. Azeez Audu, effective immediately."
In a statement, the management of Wikki Tourists revealed the reason behind Azeez Audu's dismissal.
The club confirmed the coach's departure via its social media handle.
"Wikki Tourists FC wishes to inform the public and our esteemed supporters that, after careful consideration and review of our season, the club has decided to terminate the contract of our technical advisor Mr. Azeez Audu.
“This decision comes as a result of Mr. Azeez Audu’s inability to meet the performance targets set by the club at the beginning of the season.
"As a club with high ambition and a commitment to excellence, we must take decisive action to ensure we are on track to achieve our goals.
“We appreciate Mr. Azeez Audu for his contribution during his tenure and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” the club said.
