The eagerly anticipated Nigerian National League (NNL) Super 8 tournament is set to commence on June 7th, 2024, in Enugu, and it will be broadcast live on television, according to the latest announcement from the organizers. This development marks a significant step in promoting the league and making the games accessible to a wider audience.
Mr. George Aluo, the Chairman of the NNL, confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the tournament is shown on SLTV. He stated, "We have finalized everything with SLTV, and I am pleased to announce that the NNL Super 8 tournament will have all the games broadcast live." This move is expected to increase the visibility and popularity of the league both locally and internationally.
Mr. Aluo emphasized the importance of live broadcasting for the league, noting that it will enable Nigerians and football enthusiasts around the world to follow the NNL, which he described as the most important league in the country. The live coverage is expected to attract a larger audience and provide a platform for showcasing the talent within the league.
In addition to the television broadcast deal, the NNL board recently secured an agreement with Radio Nigeria (FRCN) to broadcast the games throughout the competition. This collaboration ensures that even those who cannot watch the matches live on TV will still have access to the games through radio broadcasts, further expanding the reach of the tournament.
The NNL Super 8 will be held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu from June 7th to 14th, 2024. This stadium, known for its excellent facilities and capacity, will provide a fitting venue for the climax of the NNL season. Fans can look forward to a week of exciting football as teams compete for the top spot.
The tournament will feature eight teams: Madiba FC of Lagos, Inter Lagos FC, Ikorodu City FC of Lagos, Beyond Limits FC of Ogun State, Sporting Supreme FC, El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri, Sokoto United FC, and Nasarawa United FC of Lafia. These clubs have shown exceptional performance throughout the season and will be battling it out for the ultimate prize.
The champions of the 2024 NNL season will receive a prize of 5 million Naira. This significant reward not only adds to the competitive spirit of the tournament but also underscores the league's commitment to promoting and supporting football at this level.
