NNL releases rules on relegation and promotion modules

Nigeria National League has restated  the terms and conditions for promotion and demotion of clubs in the current 2022/2023 season.

This is with a view to remind the clubs and to  prepare them as the ongoing  season  which is shorter, gradually draw to a close.

The Northern and Southern Conferences of the league were further broken into four sub-groups :A1,A2,A3 and A4 for the Northern region.

Same format was also applied for the Southern region :B1,B2,B3 and B4 to meet with the Football calender set by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

NNL rule book provides that twelve(12) teams shall be relegated from NNL at the end of the season while,it shall receive eight from the Nation-Wide League ONE (NLO).

In the same vein,four shall be received from the Nigeria Premier Football League and same number promoted to the NPFL from NNL.

The promotion schedule will see the best teams(Teams with the highest number of points and goals ) in each of the eight sub-groups at the end of the season qualify for the NNL Super Eight Promotional Play-Offs at a venue to be considered by NNL.

In the Super Eight (8) Play-Offs the best four, (First four) with the highest number of points and goals for, will pick tickets for the four slots to the Nigeria Premier football league (NPFL).
Conversely, NNL shall admit in return ,the last four teams demoted from the NPFL to the NNL.

Firstly, it is pertinent to Note that the last(Bottom) teams in each of the eight (8) groups shall be automatically relegated to the 3rd tier domestic league ,the Nation- Wide league ONE (NLO).

Furthermore, the second to the last  (bottom ) teams in the eight groups shall go for relegation play-offs to determine the four(4) teams to complete the twelve(12) teams to be relegated from NNL to NLO 1.

NNL shall also provide suitable  venue for the relegation Play-Offs.
