The board of the Nigeria National League, led by veteran journalist George Aluo, has vowed to be firm and fair to all clubs ahead of the league’s second stanza, scheduled to get underway early next month. This commitment was confirmed by Yakubu Sarma, Chairman of the league’s Disciplinary and Organising Committee, during a recent media parley held at the NNL secretariat in Abuja.
Sarma, who also serves as the Chairman of Gombe State Football Association, stated that the NNL board has zero tolerance for hooliganism. He urged clubs to adhere to the rules during the crucial second stanza of the ongoing season. Sarma emphasized the league's readiness for the challenges of the upcoming phase and highlighted the committee's fair and prompt handling of protests in the first round.
"In the second stanza, we are going to be on top of the situation because we know how desperate clubs can be to either be on top or to escape relegation. We will be firm and fair to all the clubs," Sarma stated, appealing to clubs to play according to the rules. He emphasized a commitment to creating an environment where fans can enjoy matches without compromising on issues such as hooliganism.
The NNL second stanza, initially set to kick off last weekend, was rescheduled by two weeks following the request of clubs seeking additional time for preparation for the concluding leg of the season.
