NNL Match Day 1: Mighty Jets Int'l snatch crucial point at Yobe
Posted : 20 November 2023
Mighty Jets International FC of Jos opened their Nigeria National League (NNL) season on a positive note away at Yobe, against the Desert Stars of the Northeastern state.
The Jos-based side, coming off remarkable showings in their preseason games, rightfully built a hive of expectations among their teeming supporters and well-wishers.
In their attempt to live up to this huge expectation, Jatau Joseph stepped up to the occasion to put Mighty Jets FC in front.
While the team looked in cruise control of the game, their hosts equalized from a rare corner kick to draw the game level.
In sharp contrast to the true reflection of proceedings, Yobe Desert Stars went in front through a penalty when a Mighty Jets defender was adjudged to have handled the ball in the eighteen-yard box, leaving the first-half scores at 2-1.
Upon the return of hostilities, both teams had their chances to score, although Mighty Jets goalkeeper Gobum Roduwe was determined not to concede again and gave his team the needed boost to keep pushing for an equalizer.
Subsequently, Jatau Joseph would once again register his name on the scoresheet to draw the game level at 2-2 and hand the boys from Jos a crucial point to kickstart the season.
Up next on the schedule is a home date for Mighty Jets International FC against Wikki Tourist, who are billed to come to town on Match Day 2.
The Bauchi-based team, Wikki, has opened their campaign with an emphatic 5-0 home win over EFCC FC of Abuja.
