NNL fines Crown FC N2M

Posted : 18 April 2023
Supporters of Crown Football Club of Ogbomoso are to stay away from the Soun Township Stadium, Ogbomoso, the home ground of the club for their next three home matches in the Nigeria National League (NNL) as a deterrent meted by the league body.

This is a result of their unruly behavior and violent conduct during the Match Day 5 fixture in the Southern Conference B2 tie with visiting Ijebu United which ended 1-1, on Saturday.

Crown FC are also to pay N2 million (N2,000,000.00) for the ungovernable conduct of their fans.

The disruptive behavior of Crown FC Supporters allegedly led to the match commissioner rescheduling the match the next day. The breach by the supporters was against articles 16:2,4. And 4.1 of the governing rules of NNL.

In a summary jurisdiction, NNL, therefore, ruled that:
1. Crown shall strictly, play without their fans in their next three home matches
2. Pay the sum of N1, 000,000.00 (One Million Naira) for the missiles thrown onto the pitch of play by its supporters.
3. Another N1, 000,000.00(One Million Naira), for deliberate acts of intimidation and harassment of match officials by their supporters.
Crown FC trail Ijebu United in 3rd place in group B2, Sporting Lagos, Ijebu United, and Crown have the same 8 points but Ijebu is in 2nd place following goals scored, while Sporting Lagos is in pole position with a superior +2 goals at the end of the NNL first stanza.

Crown has been given a 48 hours ultimatum to appeal to the summary jurisdiction reeled out.
