The city of Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State will witness top European scouts and club representatives searching for talent in Nigeria as Best Talent Football Club organizes a mega scouting program.
It is worth recalling that similar programs were held at the University of Ibadan Sports Complex last year, where a significant number of players were identified, nurtured, and transported in batches to Europe for career opportunities.
This time, the program will take place at Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Top agents and club representatives from Italy are in Nigeria to monitor the five-day sporting event, which will run from Tuesday, March 4, to Saturday, March 8, 2025.
The organizers of the Global Football Scouting Tournament have confirmed that top football scouts from Italy and other European countries have already arrived in Ogun State to search for talent.
"The scouts are in Nigeria to monitor the scouting program, tagged *Best Talent Scouting Program*, which will begin on Tuesday, March 4, and run until March 8, 2025, at Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State."
Twelve teams are set to participate in the mega football scouting tournament. The participating teams are: Best Talent Football Club, Ikosi FC, Adamimogo FC, Dominion Hotspur, Victory FC, Utility Sports FC, Obas FC, Hephzibah SC, K ZeeZ FC, Seamorow FC, D Shack FA, and Utmost FC.
The fixtures will see Best Talent FC face Ikosi FC in the opening match, while Adamimogo FC will battle Dominion Hotspur. The third match will be between Victory FC and Utility Sports FC. Obas FC will take on Hephzibah SC before K ZeeZ FC faces Seamorow FC, while D Shack FA will go up against Utmost FC in the much-anticipated tournament.
The coordinator of the scouting program, Sikiru Ibrahim, stated that the invited clubs are mostly youth teams in Nigeria that play competitive football, as well as third-division clubs.
In his words: "The invited clubs are part of the Best Talent Football Scouting Tournament network and have maintained strong relationships over the years.
"They are primarily third-division clubs as well as established youth teams across the country with a proven track record of competitive football."
The General Manager of Best Talent Football Club, Mowe, stated that the program is designed to provide realistic opportunities for talented players in Nigeria.
"We organized similar programs in Ibadan last year, and the overwhelming success motivated us to do more here.
"This event is organized to provide genuine opportunities for talented and promising players, as well as their teams, to transition to Europe."
"The benefit for clubs is the opportunity to showcase their talents to top European teams in attendance. For the players, it is a chance to demonstrate their progress throughout the year with the hope of being scouted to play in Europe.
"We have in attendance the heads of youth clubs in Europe, top agents, and club representatives from across the continent."
