Posted : 06 December 2023

On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Nigerian footballers showcased notable performances overseas. Lagos-born talent Babatunde Akinsola stood out, contributing to Real Valladolid's consolation goal in a 3-1 loss to Espanyol in the Spanish Copa del Rey.

In Denmark's 1 Division, Monday Etim assisted Helsingør's equalizer, securing a 2-2 draw against Næstved during stoppage time.

Nigerian attacking prowess took center stage in the Egyptian Premier League as Ceramica Cleopatra secured a 4-2 victory over ENPPI. Sodiq Olamilekan Ougola and John Okoye Ebuka played pivotal roles, contributing to three of the four goals.

Ougola provided the pass for Ahmed Yasser Rayan's opener in the 41st minute, then doubled Ceramica Cleopatra's lead in the 73rd minute following an assist from Ebuka. Ougola later assisted Ebuka for the home team's third goal. Despite ENPPI's late comeback attempts, Mostafa Adel's own goal secured Ceramica Cleopatra's win.

In the Israeli Ligat Ha'al, Ibraheem Jabaar's assist led Maccabi Petah Tikva to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Maccabi Netanya.

Al Fayha advanced to the knockout round of the AFC Champions League with a comeback win over Pakhtakor. Despite Pakhtakor's early lead, Al Fayha scored four goals, with Henry Onyekuru netting the third in the 85th minute, marking his first goal in the AFC Champions League. In the South African PSL, Olisa Ndah's stellar defensive performance helped Orlando Pirates secure a clean sheet in a 2-0 triumph over Moroka Swallows, led by Daniel Akpeyi.
