Derby County has officially announced the new batch of academy scholars for the upcoming 2023-2024 season through their official website.
Earlier reports indicating Derby County's interest in signing Nigerian teenage striker Justin Oguntolu for their academy team have been confirmed, as he joins the club as a first-year scholar.
Oguntolu, who previously played for Arsenal's youth team, has arrived at Derby County as a free agent after being released by Tottenham Hotspur when his contract expired at the end of the 2022-2023 campaign.
The young striker has signed a two-year scholarship with Derby County, securing his presence at the club until at least June 30, 2025. During a successful trial, Oguntolu demonstrated his potential by scoring two goals in five appearances in the U18 Premier League, all while still a schoolboy.
Since the start of pre-season preparations, Oguntolu has been training with Derby County's U18 team, integrating himself into the club's setup and acclimatizing to their style of play.
Known for his versatility across the front three positions, Oguntolu excels at dropping deep to link up play, making runs in behind the defense, and finding the back of the net.
Alongside Oguntolu, Derby County has also welcomed other first-year scholars to their academy, including Demiane Agustien, Cruz Allen, Luke Banks, Owen Eames, Tristan Gill, Isaac Gordon, Niall McAndrew, Adisa Osayande, Johnson Osong, Harley Price, Jack Thompson, and Marsel Tola.
The club aims to nurture and develop these young talents as they embark on their footballing journey at Derby County.
