Nigerian striker Agada sends defenders warning ahead of African Games

Posted : 05 March 2024

Nigerian forward Charles Agada has issued a stern warning to defenders as Nigeria prepares to face Uganda in the opening game of the 2023 African Games. The 17-year-old Mavlon FC starlet, who recently showcased his skills at the Viareggio Cup, scoring eight goals, including a hat-trick against Fiorentina youth, has joined the Flying Eagles for the tournament in Ghana.

Agada's standout performances for the Golden Eaglets at the 2023 Africa U17 Cup of Nations earned him a promotion to the Flying Eagles. Ladan Bosso's team is set to compete against South Sudan, Senegal, and Tunisia in Group B as they aim to secure the gold medal, a feat they haven't accomplished in forty-one years.

Confident from his experiences at the Viareggio Cup, where he faced top young talents, Agada expressed his happiness and determination, stating that he is not under pressure. Having undergone trials with Sevilla and Villarreal, he emphasized facing foreign players who are superior to those in Nigeria.

Agada conveyed his readiness to dominate any defender he faces at the African Games, asserting his commitment to representing Nigeria effectively. He shared his assurance of delivering a strong performance and warned defenders to be prepared for the challenge, emphasizing his physical prowess and determination.

In a previous display at the 2023 Africa U17 Cup of Nations, Agada contributed a goal and an assist in the Golden Eaglets' 3-2 victory over South Africa.
