Nigerian-descended teens sign new deals at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur has officially introduced their latest intake of academy scholars for the upcoming season through an announcement on their official website. 

As per the regulations set by the Premier League, all players under the age of 17 must begin the next season on a scholarship agreement before they are eligible to sign their first professional contracts.

Among the talented young prospects welcomed into the Tottenham fold are Timileyin Adekunle and Theodore Adelusi, both of whom have committed to a two-year scholarship program. 

These promising players, who are also eligible to represent the Golden Eaglets, have joined Tottenham's U18 team as full-time first-year scholars, embarking on an exciting new chapter of their football journeys.

In addition to Adekunle and Adelusi, the ranks of Tottenham's academy have been bolstered by the signing of Callum Olusesi, a highly skilled player of Nigerian descent who has earned recognition as part of the England U16 national team. 

Olusesi, too, has put pen to paper on a scholarship deal, further strengthening the club's pool of talented young players.

The trio of Adekunle, Adelusi, and Olusesi showcased their abilities last season as members of the Tottenham Hotspur squad that clinched the U17 Premier League Cup, demonstrating their potential and contributing to the team's success. 

Notably, Olusesi also played a role in the U18 Premier League Cup triumph, underlining his versatility and talent.

Throughout the 2022-2023 campaign, Olusesi exhibited his skills in the U18 Premier League, featuring in fourteen matches. 

Impressively, he even made his debut in the UEFA Youth League while still a schoolboy, proving his capability to perform at a higher level.

Having embarked on this exciting new phase of their development, Adekunle, Adelusi, and Olusesi commenced their full-time training at Tottenham's renowned Hotspur Way facilities on Monday, July 3. 

As they continue their football education under the guidance of the club's experienced coaching staff, the future looks promising for these young prospects as they strive to make their mark at Tottenham Hotspur.
