Nigerian-born Arsenal DM sought by clubs

Tim Akinola, the Nigerian-born defensive midfielder, has garnered substantial interest from clubs in both England and abroad. 

Omitted from Arsenal's development squad traveling to Spain for pre-season training, Akinola is expected to depart from the Emirates Stadium before the summer transfer window closes.

The 22-year-old has been training with Arsenal's players likely to be moved on this summer and demonstrated his dedication by participating fully in a recent behind-closed-door friendly.

Neftci Baku, the nine-time Azerbaijan Premier League champions, have expressed a strong desire to secure Akinola's services and have initiated high-level talks for a potential permanent deal.

Additionally, newly-promoted EFL League One club Stevenage is keen on bolstering their midfield ranks and has extended a proposal to Akinola.

Moreover, some Turkish Super Lig clubs have also displayed interest in the talented midfielder, although they remain unnamed at this stage.

Akinola's journey in senior football commenced during a loan spell at Dundee United in the latter part of the 2021-2022 season, followed by another loan stint at Chesterfield in the National League last term.

The midfielder has also had a taste of international football, training with Nigeria's Olympic National Team in preparation for a 2023 Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania in October. 

With multiple clubs vying for his signature, Akinola is undoubtedly a player in high demand as he looks to continue his promising career.
