After successfully winning the IHF Women's Trophy Africa Continental Phase title, the Nigeria U-18 women handball team will participate in the 19 Africa Women's Youth Nations Championship.
Africa Sport Network (ASN) reports that the championship is schedule to take place in Monastir, Tunisia from Sept. 16 to 23
In a brief draw ceremony held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Nigeria were drawn in group A alongside Guinea, Algeria and two times champion Tunisia.
Group B has defending champion and the most successful team in the championship with four titles, Egypt, three time finalist Angola, D.R Congo and Morocco.
Nigeria will be participating for the first time in the championship since they came second in the very first edition in the year 2000 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and they will hope to take the form of the IHF Women's Trophy into the Africa championship which serves as qualifiers for the 2024 IHF Women's Youth World Handball Championship.
Nigeria has never qualified for the world championship and this is an opportunity for the country to make history.
