Nigeria secured their place in the Africa Cup of Nations finals with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone. Kelechi Iheanacho scored a stoppage-time winner to seal the win after Sierra Leone had come back from a 2-0 deficit.
The win ensured Nigeria's qualification along with Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde Islands, and Mali, who also secured their spots in the tournament.
Guinea Bissau's fourth consecutive finals appearance was confirmed after their win against Sao Tome e Principe. Cape Verde Islands defeated Burkina Faso 3-1, while Mali emerged victorious with a 2-0 away win against Congo.
Gabon's hopes were dashed as they suffered a 2-0 home defeat against the Democratic Republic of Congo, who now lead their group.
Ghana missed out on securing qualification as they were held to a goalless draw against Madagascar. Mozambique and Tanzania boosted their chances of qualifying with victories in their respective matches.
Algeria maintained a perfect record in the qualifiers with a 2-1 away win against Uganda, making it five wins out of five for the defending champions.
With three more matches remaining in the fifth round of qualifiers, the top two teams from each of the 12 qualifying groups will secure their spots in the finals. The remaining matches are set to take place on Tuesday.
