The South East Women Football Association has congratulated the national U-17 women's team, the Flamingos, for their 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso in last Saturday’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup African qualification series third-round, first-leg encounter.
The elite South East Women Football Association, represented by Kennedy Onwunali, then urged the team to finish the job in the second leg in Nigeria.
He expressed excitement at the performance of Harmony Chidi, the highest goal scorer at the first edition of the South East Women Football League held in Owerri.
Harmony Chidi scored the only goal of the day for the Flamingos, taking her goal tally to six in three games for the country.
The Chairman of the body, Coach Alex of Awka Angels, said last year's competition was a success because of the hard work put in place by the association and the host city, Owerri.
He urged all the women's teams in the zone to be affiliated and register for the 2024 edition in Anambra state, which will be held in August.
