Nigeria has received a promising development in their pursuit of Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo, after he was excluded from England's latest squad.
The 26-year-old center-back, who has represented England at youth levels, was left out of the national team for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Finland and Greece.
Interim England manager Lee Carsley opted for defenders like John Stones, Kyle Walker, Levi Colwill, Ezri Konsa, Rico Lewis, Marc Guéhi, and Trent Alexander-Arnold for these games.
Despite having played for England at the U16, U17, U18, and U19 levels, Tosin has not made an appearance for the senior national team and his last youth cap came in 2015.
This omission opens the door for Nigeria, who are looking to solidify their defense ahead of the 2025 AFCON and could pair Tosin with Calvin Bassey in a potential future partnership.
Tosin, known for his strong Premier League performances, has played with several Nigerian teammates, including Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi.
His experience and connections with Nigerian players, especially his solid partnership with Bassey at Fulham before Bassey’s Chelsea transfer, make him a fitting candidate to boost Nigeria’s defense.
