Nigeria Pitch Awards gets NFF, media gurus' commendation over 10th year anniversary

The Director of Communications of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ademola Olajire, and other media icons have commended the organizers of the Nigeria Pitch Awards for their 10th-anniversary celebration, acknowledging football stars, coaches, and administrators. They expressed their commendation in an exclusive interview on the sidelines of the media briefing to mark the 10th-year anniversary at Lagos Travel Inn, Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos.

The Nigeria Pitch Awards, owned by Lender Consult International, is a reward system that acknowledges Nigerian former and present football icons, footballers, administrators, and journalists for their positive contributions to sports in Nigeria. The awards had its inaugural edition on Nov. 16, 2013, at the Transcorp Metropolitan Hotel in Calabar, Cross River State, with notable sports and government personalities in attendance.

Speaking about the integrity of the awards, NFF chief publicist Olajire praised the organizers, especially Mr. Shina Phillips, the president of Lenders Consult International, for their excellent work and maintaining a system free from external influences on the award winners. He commended the transparency of the voting system, stating that the NFF supports the awards' consistency and uniqueness over the past 10 years.

A three-time winner of the awards and media personality, Mr. Godwin Enakhena, highlighted the significance of the awards in his career, emphasizing its consistency and credibility. He commended the transparent voting process and expressed optimism about its future growth.

Mr. Samson Adelu of PM News stated that Nigeria Pitch Awards ranks among the best football awards of this generation. He commended the process leading to the award ceremony, emphasizing the need for support from the government and the private sector for its continuity.

Shina Phillips, the President of Lenders Consult International, emphasized their refusal to commercialize the awards to maintain its integrity. He mentioned receiving sponsorship offers with conditions they cannot accept, emphasizing the importance of preserving the awards' identity as a credible recognition.

Activities for the 10th anniversary will kick off with voting, scheduled to begin on Dec. 4 and end on Jan. 12, 2024. The 10th Award ceremony is expected to take place in March 2024 during the International Match window.

Some of the past winners of the Nigeria Pitch Awards include Ahmed Musa, Odion Ighalo, Victor Osimhen, Asisat Oshoala, and Kelechi Iheanacho.
