FC Lorient, the French Ligue 1 club, has officially confirmed the signing of Aiyegun Tosin, a talented Nigerian forward, from Swiss side FC Zürich.
Tosin, who also holds Nigerian-Beninese nationality, inked a four-year contract with Lorient and will wear the number 27 jersey for his new team.
Having caught the attention of former Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr during a Europa League qualifying match between Bordeaux and Ventspils in August 2018, Tosin initially considered representing Nigeria but later committed his international future to the Republic of Benin.
Lorient has high hopes that Tosin's arrival will add the attacking prowess they have been missing since the departure of Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi.
Tosin embarked on his professional journey with FK Ventspils in Latvia, where he made a significant impact, amassing an impressive record of 35 goals and twenty assists in 89 appearances across all competitions.
In September 2019, the 25-year-old joined FC Zürich, and during his time with the Swiss club, he contributed greatly to their success, helping them secure the Swiss Super League title in the 2021/2022 campaign.
Over four seasons at FC Zürich, Tosin notched 35 goals and nine assists in 105 appearances.
Now, as he begins his new chapter with FC Lorient, both the club and fans eagerly anticipate Tosin's attacking prowess and hope that he can continue his impressive goal-scoring form to make a significant impact in the French Ligue 1.
