Gift Monday, a forward for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, has been shortlisted for the Spanish Liga F Player of the Month award for February due to her impressive performances for UD Tenerife.
The 23-year-old striker has been a key player in Tenerife’s rise to sixth place in the league, scoring ten goals across 17 appearances this season.
Her February contributions included crucial goals in league victories over Sevilla and Valencia, further strengthening her reputation as a reliable goal scorer.
Monday is competing for the award alongside notable players such as Alba Redondo (Real Madrid), Caroline Hansen (Barcelona), Ainhoa Marin (Deportivo La Coruña), Ane Azkona (Athletic Club), Ari Mingueza (Granada), and Elba Verges (Eibar).
Now in her third season with Tenerife, she has cemented her status as one of the league’s most lethal attackers. Before her recent goalless game against Eibar, she had scored in six consecutive matches between December and January, including goals against top clubs like Barcelona, Deportivo, Granada, and Madrid.
Her consistent performances have placed her third in Liga F’s goal-scoring rankings, trailing only Ewa Pajor of Barcelona (15 goals) and Edna Imade of Granada (12 goals). This season, she has already surpassed her goal tally from her previous two seasons combined.
Monday also made an impact in the Copa de la Reina, scoring twice before Tenerife’s elimination at the hands of Barcelona. While she has yet to net a competitive goal for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, she was on the scoresheet in their 4-1 friendly win over Algeria last October in Lagos.
