Watford Football Club has officially announced the contract renewal of 18-year-old talent Hamzat Balogun, as part of their recent series of contract extensions for youth players.
Balogun, who primarily plays as a full-back, has signed a one-year deal with the option to extend for an additional year.
Despite being born in England, Balogun is also eligible to represent Nigeria at the international level. He progressed through the youth ranks at Manchester United before joining Watford in 2021.
Notably, he has participated in FA Youth Cup matches for the club, showcasing his potential and talent.
In a previous interview with Watford magazine, Balogun expressed his admiration for former Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis, praising his agility, positive play style, and fearlessness in taking on opponents.
He emphasized the importance of having such characters and players in the team.
Additionally, Balogun revealed his fondness for the Nigeria national team's kit from the 2018 World Cup held in Russia.
He expressed his enthusiasm for the design and color scheme of the Super Eagles' kit, highlighting his appreciation for its unique style.
Currently focused on his development and aspiring to become a professional player at Watford, Balogun has yet to represent either England or Nigeria at any level of football.
With his contract renewal, he aims to continue honing his skills and making progress within the club's setup.
