Fiorentina, the Italian Serie A team, has officially announced that Michael Kayode, a promising defender eligible for the Super Eagles, has extended his commitment to the club by signing a fresh contract.
This renewed agreement between Fiorentina and Kayode is set to keep the Italy U21 international, who hails from Nigeria, in Florence until the conclusion of the 2027-2028 season.
This right-back earned his spot in the first team this season following an impressive stint with the Primavera team, where he contributed to their success in clinching the Coppa Italia once and the Primavera Super Cup twice.
Notably, on the international stage, Kayode played a pivotal role in the Italy squad's victory at the 2023 European U19 Championship, notably netting the winning goal in the final against Portugal.
In all competitions, Kayode has made eight appearances for Fiorentina, with six of them in Serie A and two in the Europa Conference League group stage.
With this fresh contract, the future of the fullback seems secure, putting an end to the speculations regarding his potential move to clubs in the Premier League and German Bundesliga.
Michael Kayode joined Fiorentina in the summer of 2021, following his time in the youth teams of Juventus and Gozzano.
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that Kayode has been included in Fiorentina's provisional squad for their upcoming Europa Conference League match against Cukaricki on Thursday evening.
