Nice Signs Right-Back Jonathan Clauss from Marseille

Nice announced on Thursday the signing of France right-back Jonathan Clauss from Marseille on a two-year contract. Clauss, who joined Marseille in 2022 and was part of France's Euro 2024 squad without making an appearance, has moved for a reported fee of around five million euros ($5.43 million).

 

At Nice, Clauss will reunite with Franck Haise, his former coach from his time at Lens, where he played for two seasons before transferring to Marseille. Clauss expressed his excitement about rejoining Haise, citing the coach's influence as a significant factor in his decision.

 

"This opportunity comes at a crucial point in my career," Clauss said in a statement from Nice. "I need regular playing time and the chance to compete in European competitions. I'm ambitious, just like Nice."
