Nice reclaimed the top spot in Ligue 1 with a commanding 2-0 victory over Stade Rennais at their home ground, while AS Monaco mirrored their success with a solid win against Brest. Jeremie Boga made a significant impact with a first-half goal for Nice, and a late free kick from Sofiane Diop, which deflected off Rennes keeper Steve Mandanda, sealed Nice's fourth consecutive triumph.
Just before the halftime whistle, Nice broke the deadlock as Terem Moffi's cross eluded the defense, finding its way to the far post, where an unmarked Boga calmly slotted the ball into the net. However, the game witnessed moments of tension when Youssouf Ndayishimiye of Nice received a straight red card in the 75th minute for a sliding tackle on Enzo Le Fee.
In the final minutes of the match, Nice earned a crucial free kick just outside the box after Warmed Omari was shown a direct red card for pushing Evann Guessand. The ensuing shot from Diop hit the crossbar and then deflected off Mandanda's back into the net, securing the victory for Nice.
Meanwhile, AS Monaco displayed their determination to bounce back from their previous loss to Lille, defeating Brest 2-0. Denis Zakaria opened the scoring for Monaco with a header from a corner in the 16th minute, giving them a lead they would maintain. Brest had a goal disallowed due to a previous foul after Jeremy Le Douaron tapped in a cross.
Despite both teams having goals denied for offside in quick succession around the half-hour mark, Monaco extended their lead as Aleksandr Golovin skillfully placed a finish into the top corner after 69 minutes. Brest had their share of bad luck, hitting the woodwork twice, and they faced further setbacks when defender Lilian Brassier received his second yellow card for a foul in the dying moments of the match.
