The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced on Monday the appointment of former Super Eagles winger, Finidi George, as the 41st Coach of the senior national team, the Super Eagles.
In addition, the NFF, in collaboration with Finidi, has approved the appointment of Hoffenheim coach Benjamin James Chima Onyeike as one of his assistants, while his compatriots, Daniel Amokachi (The Bull), and Abiodun Baruwa, return as Assistant Coach and Goalkeepers Trainer respectively.
The two foreign assistants to the new Super Eagles coach, Finidi George, Benjamin James, and Chima Onyeike, also have Nigerian roots.
James, who grew up in Ajegunle, Lagos, hails from Bayelsa State. He previously played for Shooting Stars and Stores before pursuing his career in Italy and Germany. He has spent over a decade at German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim.
Fitness trainer Chima, aged 48, was born in the Netherlands and played professionally for several Dutch clubs. He holds a diploma in fitness from the sports university and has worked with various top European clubs such as VfB Stuttgart, PAOK, and Willem II.
Finidi will also receive assistance from a foreign match reader/analyst, Mehmet Ozturk.
