The Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Gbenga Elegbeleye, has announced an agreement with the Spanish La Liga club Sevilla CF to facilitate the development of the league in Nigeria.
As part of this agreement, NPFL President Gbenga Elegbeleye visited the club, where he met President José María del Nido Carrasco and toured the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium.
“We are very happy to be able to work with the Nigerian Premier League. Sevilla FC is convinced that this alliance can help NPFL clubs continue to improve and encourage the development of youth players. It is a decisive step in our internationalization process and will help our brand continue to grow in Africa, especially in Nigeria, where we have received a lot of support following the signing of Chidera Ejuke,” explained José María del Nido Carrasco.
“We have 20 clubs in the Nigerian Premier League, and they all have their own youth academies. I am aware of the history and track record of Sevilla FC. This is a very successful club that has won trophies in Spain and Europe for many years. I believe that with their development strategy and youth programs, Nigeria can benefit greatly.
We anticipate that the best players from the Nigerian Youth League will come here each season to train. With your help and training, they will return as better players. We also have a training agreement for our coaches, which will be beneficial for us. It is a win-win arrangement for everyone involved in the NPFL,” said NPFL President Gbenga Elegbeleye.
