The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has settled the outstanding bonuses and allowances for their 2022 U-20 World Cup campaign in Costa Rica.
The bonuses were paid after several months of delay. Now, Nigeria’s women’s U-20 team, the Falconets, can finally smile all the way to the bank as they received their outstanding bonuses and allowances for the 2022 World Cup in Costa Rica.
President Bola Tinubu approved a bailout fund of 12 billion Naira in January to clear the NFF's huge indebtedness to the Super Eagles, Flying Eagles, Golden Eaglets, and Falconets.
A top official stated, "The Falconets received their bonuses and allowances for the U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica played two years ago."
"The NFF is working on the payments to the other national teams covered by this intervention fund," the official added.
A team official of the Falconets, who benefitted from this payment, also confirmed this development.
The Falconets crashed out to the Netherlands 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the U-20 World Cup.
