After spending a year away from competitive play to recover from a serious knee injury, Neymar is on the verge of making a return to the pitch. However, his recent lifestyle choices, including a luxurious retreat on the exotic island of Japao near Brazil, have sparked concern among his Saudi club, Al-Hilal, which has invested heavily in his signing. Japao, a tropical island not far from Angra dos Reis, spans 2,500 square meters and features lavish accommodations, including three luxury complexes and a helipad that offers quick access to Rio de Janeiro. The island, maintained by a team of ten staff, is available for a staggering price of 20,000 shekels per night.

Interestingly, there are reports of someone willing to pay €9 million for ownership of the island, which has become informally known as Neymar's island. This indulgent lifestyle comes as Neymar has enjoyed a year free from the pressures of competitive football, allowing him to revel in his wealth, which includes a staggering €3 million weekly salary.

As Neymar gears up for a comeback after a year-long hiatus, the question remains whether he can reclaim his status as one of the sport’s most thrilling players. He last played on October 18, 2023, before undergoing surgery to repair a knee ligament and meniscus tear sustained during a World Cup qualifier. Despite only playing five matches for Al-Hilal since his transfer from PSG, reports suggest he has returned to training and may be fit to play soon. However, concerns linger about his commitment and professionalism, as the club had initially anticipated a quicker recovery and are growing impatient with his off-pitch antics.

Neymar's recent behavior has raised eyebrows, particularly among Al-Hilal's management, who are displeased with his social media posts, which they perceive as unprofessional. This criticism has also extended to concerns about his physical condition during his recovery period. Neymar has attempted to brush off these comments, claiming that his current weight is “the weight of beauty.” While his talent remains evident—having recorded a goal and three assists in limited play—his motivation has been questioned.

Reports suggest he may not fulfill his contract with Al-Hilal, which ends in June, and could instead return to his roots by rejoining Santos in Brazil.
