Newcastle United have announced the signing of Denmark Under-21 striker William Osula from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old joins the Premier League club after a season where he made 21 appearances for Sheffield United, who were relegated last season. Prior to his time with the Blades, Osula had a loan spell at Derby County in the third tier of English football.
Osula began his career with his hometown club Copenhagen before moving to Sheffield United in 2018. Expressing his excitement about the move, Osula shared on Newcastle's website that he is thrilled to join a "big club" and seize the opportunity to play for the Magpies. His enthusiasm was evident as he emphasized his eagerness to join the club as soon as he learned of their interest.
Newcastle’s manager, Eddie Howe, praised Osula's potential, describing him as a "talented young forward" with qualities that could make him a significant player for the team. Howe mentioned that they have been closely monitoring Osula's development and are pleased to bring him on board for this new chapter in his career.
Newcastle, who finished seventh in the Premier League last season, are set to kick off their 2024/25 campaign with a home match against Southampton on August 17. The addition of Osula is expected to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season.
