Newcastle United considers hosting a friendly between Saudi Arabia and Mexico during September international break

According to sources, Newcastle United is currently in discussions to host a friendly fixture between Saudi Arabia and Mexico at St James' Park during the September international break.
The Premier League club, which came under majority ownership by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) in 2021, recently qualified for the Champions League after a 20-year absence and reached the Carabao Cup final.
Mexico is planning to play two matches in England, and one of them would be against Saudi Arabia, who they defeated 2-1 during the group stage of the 2022 World Cup.
The fixture is still being negotiated between the federations and Newcastle, and the approval of the English Football Association would be required for the game to take place in the country.
If the match is confirmed at St James' Park, it would be the first time that the Saudi-owned club hosts a Saudi Arabia fixture there. Despite the controversy surrounding the club's white-and-green away kit last season, assurances were given during the takeover process that the Saudi state would not have direct control over the club.
At present, discussions are ongoing, and an official confirmation is yet to be made regarding the Saudi Arabia vs. Mexico game at Newcastle's stadium.
