Newcastle United surged into contention for a Champions League spot with a commanding win against Crystal Palace at St James' Park. The Magpies displayed their dominance with first-half goals from Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon, and Sean Longstaff, complemented by Callum Wilson's strike just beyond the hour mark. This victory propelled Newcastle to fifth place in the Premier League standings.
 
Right from the start, Newcastle showed their intent as Kieran Trippier delivered an exquisite first-time pass to set up Jacob Murphy, who chipped the ball over Sam Johnstone, initially flagged offside but ultimately deemed onside by VAR, much to the delight of the St James' Park crowd.
 
The hosts maintained control throughout the first half, consistently pressing forward, and despite squandering a few opportunities, they entered halftime with a commanding lead.
 
In the final minute of regular time in the first half, the partnership of Trippier and Murphy created a precision cross that Anthony Gordon slotted home at the back post. Shortly after, Sean Longstaff capitalized on a defensive mistake by Marc Guehi to add the third goal.
 
While Crystal Palace displayed some signs of life in the second half, Newcastle's resolute counter-attacks were evident, with Callum Wilson sealing the win following yet another swift move involving Murphy and Trippier.
 
The match not only solidified Newcastle's position in the Premier League but also served as a display of their attacking prowess, leaving Crystal Palace outmatched on the day.
