Jacob Murphy scored twice as Newcastle United thrashed Leicester City 4-0 in their Premier League match at St James' Park on Saturday. The home side dominated possession, creating several chances in the first half, and took the lead through a well-executed set piece. Aaron Gordon played a short corner to Murphy, who fired a powerful shot from the edge of the box, beating Leicester's goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.
The second half saw Leicester's defense unravel after Hermansen was substituted for Danny Ward. Newcastle capitalized on this change, with Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak both scoring headers from close range. Murphy then completed his brace, adding a second goal for Newcastle to make it 4-0 just before the hour mark.
Despite continued pressure from the home side, the score remained unchanged, securing a dominant 4-0 victory for Newcastle. This win moved them up to 11th place with 23 points, while Leicester, managed by Ruud van Nistelrooy, remained in 16th place with 14 points.
