Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that Allan Saint-Maximin's expected transfer to a Saudi Arabian team, Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, will comply with the Premier League's regulations.
The French winger, 26, is anticipated to join the club owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also owns Newcastle United. Reports have suggested that rival Premier League clubs are concerned about the potential inflation of his transfer fee, which could help Newcastle meet Financial Fair Play regulations.
Howe acknowledged that it is likely Saint-Maximin will leave the club and stated that Newcastle will adhere to the same rules as other Premier League clubs when it comes to deals. He assured that they will ensure the transfer is conducted properly and meets all the criteria required by the Premier League.
Last week, Howe had revealed that Saint-Maximin was in talks with an unnamed Saudi Pro League side, indicating his imminent departure from Newcastle. The club's sporting director, Dan Ashworth, had previously acknowledged that while they have funds to buy players, they must also be open to selling players to comply with spending regulations.
The Saudi Pro League's takeover of four top teams, including Wolves, has seen several high-profile players, such as Ruben Neves, N'Golo Kante, and Roberto Firmino, move to the league.
Howe expressed that this dynamic has now involved Newcastle with Allan's potential deal, but he emphasized that the valuation placed on Saint-Maximin's head will be met, making it a standard transfer for the club.
