New Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has expressed his respect for the club's traditional passing style while also emphasizing his desire to implement a more direct approach focused on scoring. Flick, who previously managed Germany and Bayern Munich, was appointed head coach on a two-year contract in May following the dismissal of Xavi Hernandez. His primary task is to rejuvenate the team after a trophy-less season.
In an interview with Barca ONE, Flick acknowledged the club's passing tradition but highlighted his goal-oriented vision. "Here the tradition is to play with passing, but I also want them to go straight to the goal," he said. Flick aims for the team to focus more on scoring without deviating significantly from their established style. He plans to maintain a high-press strategy and play in the opponent’s half while prioritizing winning games.
Barcelona's pre-season preparations include a match against Manchester City in Florida on 30 July, followed by the start of their league campaign at Valencia on 17 August. Flick's tenure begins with the challenge of balancing tradition with innovation to bring success back to the club.
